The usual scenario for this routine is thus: A Stooge wonders how deep the water is in a pond, lake or puddle, and another Stooge says, "It ain''t deep ... see?" and starts walking in ankle-deep water. After a few steps, he plunges overhead in water!

Increasingly bigger pencils or cigars |
|
Curly begins to write something, but Moe snatches the pencil away. Curly then takes out an even bigger pencil then Moe snatches that away, followed by Curly taking out an even bigger pencil. This keeps going on an on until Moe takes the last pencil and whacks Curly on the head with it. This gag is also sometimes used with cigars instead of pencils.

Inept Carpenters Sequence |
|
The sequence involves the Stooges as carpenters attempting to install a door. Moe climbs up on a table and asks for a board cut to a certain length. Larry and Curly cut the board, but also cut the table Moe is standing on. The door then accidentally falls over Moe and Curly and Larry use the circular saw to cut him out, but they also cut the floor and Moe falls to the floor below.
This is not a repeated Stooge routine, but a complete filmed sequence that was first filmed for Pardon My Scotch and then re-used in Dizzy Detectives.

When a supporting character or Shemp gets stabbed in the behind with a pointy instrument, the instrument gets bent afterwards. Shemp looks at the now-bent pointy instrument and says "He/I must have iron in his/my blood!"

When the Stooges are asked by a waiter/bartender to pay for their drinks, they respond with "It's a tin roof" (or something similar.) The waiter gets confused and asks "What do you mean?", followed by the Stooges responding "It's a tin roof -- it's ''on the house''!"
