Bud was a devout Christian Scientist; he died after he reportedly refused to seek treatment for failing kidneys, one of which was cancerous per his death certificate. Jamison family members recently indicated that his religion did not play a role in his death, but he continued to work until his untreated phlebitis caused a blood clot that traveled to his lungs.

Eight years after Bud's death, Jules White paid tribute by using his picture for the campaign posters of 'Hammond Egger' in THREE DARK HORSES (1952).
