FORT LEE FILM COMMISSION RESTORES RARE 1947 FILM "10,000 KIDS AND A COP"Chris Costello and the Fort Lee Film Commission are at work on the restoration of a rare film from the Costello family archive in Los Angeles.
10,000 KIDS AND A COP was produced by Lou Costello in 1947 in conjunction with the opening of the Lou Costello Jr. Youth Center in East Los Angeles. This center was established in the name of Lou Costello's son, Lou Costello Jr who died in a tragic pool accident in 1943. The film includes appearances by Jimmy Stewart, William Bendix and Abbott & Costello. The Film Commission visited the Lou Costello Recreation Center (now operated by the City of Los Angeles) in 2004 and we hope to use 2006 screenings of this film to raise money for the present day center as well as children's charities in Paterson, New Jersey, Lou's hometown.
