When the Captain says of his nice new 1936 Ford, "Boys, she is a beauty, I've been saving months for that baby" and the delivery man adds, "Yeah, take it kinda easy the first 500," we know that the car won't come through intact. But there's lots of funny stuff before it gets wrecked. When the Stooges shot street scenes in the 1930s the results were always good . . . and when a careening vehicle was involved, hilarious.
The wince-inducing moment for me had Curly's arms going through a wringer. Crush injuries from a laundry wringer were dreadful. Sometimes when the affected extremities were freed, the casualty would suffer deep shock due to release of toxins from the crushed tissues.
