Well, as for me I have caught up with TCM as to recording the movies as they show them.  In the next 3 months I can record 2 movies that I do not have..  Interesting, I've been a member here for almost 2 years and still only have 234 performances recorded out of the 802 shown to exist.

Woohoo, they are showing stooge shorts on new years eve.  Man, that's a step in the right direction.  I haven't seen any on television in at least 2 years in the Tulsa area.

A New Years Eve Stooge marathon! Sounds like fun to me. But, I wonder if they will show them uninterrupted. At one time, AMC showed movies without commercial interruptions, but not anymore. I hope they can hold off on the commercials for 16 to 18 minutes & just let the shorts play.

AMC isn't affiliated with Spike. Did they obtain broadcasting rights again? I'm sure they'll be all Curly's just like the old days and will include the same shorts Sony included in their syndication package.

Non-Stooge recommendation...

Turner Classic Movies has 24-hours of Sherlock Holmes films scheduled, Dec. 25 8PM - Dec. 26 8PM Eastern. The majority are from the classic Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce series of 1939 - 1946. The first two Rathbones from 1939 (produced by 20th-Century Fox) air Christmas night beginning @ 8PM; the "Sherlock Holmes vs. Nazi spy" Rathbones produced at Universal 1942 - 1946 will air December 26 from 6AM - 8PM.

I was scrolling through TCM's schedule.  Another Thin Man with Shemp is on new years eve, as well as 5 others of the "Thin Man" series with Nick and Nora comedy sleuths.  (Oldy but goody).

WSBK (TV38) in Boston is continuing its tradition of it's New Year's Eve marathon....8 p.m. - 1 a.m. I remember watching this as a kid and it's great to see it still happening.

It's nice to see them back on TV for a day, but I'm really disappointed in the selection of shorts. Yeah there's a lot of classics in there, but it's the same ones they've always show on New Years. Regardless of not having the ability to air any of the "Missing 60", I think it's pathetic they have to start repeating shorts. That blows. And no Shemp's. I guess I'll have my own marathon in lieu of that.

  Yeah this seems to IMO be a little bit of an interesting marathon on AMC this time around, since they haven't been on there in so long, in addition to it being their 75th anniversary of shorts at Columbia. I have hardly got to watch the Stooges over the past couple of years, so this marathon may be helpful in getting back as much interest as I can in the Stooges so I can fully enjoy the Missing 60 shorts that I have not seen yet. Either way, it is great that some shorts are gonna be shown on AMC again.

So AMC plans to show 32 different episodes in 14 hours, 13 minutes, or about 26:40 per episode.  That's a lot of commercials and/or AMC promos.  Methinks I'll continue to watch the Stooges on DVD, especially with next Thursday being a work day -- like today was, with a chance to get out early as well.
