Ted Healy was Moe Howard's childhood friend, who helped get Moe into the movies and acting, and became the 'boss' of "Ted Healy and His Stooges." Ted was a heavy drinker and womanizer, and eventually the Stooges left him to go on their own. Ted died of complications of kidney nephritis after a binge while celebrating the birth of his son.
