Ted Healy is an aggravated producer trying to put on his stage show The Ted Healy Follies, but of course he and his stagehand (Ed Brophy) get little cooperation from Ted's three sons, the Stooges, or a tempermental musician (Henry Armetta), and backstage nuisance Bonnie. At the climax of the show the Stooges slip out onto the stage under the hoop skirt of the star vocalist, ruining the scene and the show.
In December 2012, a 35mm nitrate print was found in a private film collection in Australia. Prior to that, the only known print/negative was presumed lost in MGM's 1967 vault fire.
Filmed in 2-strip Technicolor. The use of Technicolor was due to footage of musical numbers from earlier MGM feature films. I'm Sailing on a Sunbeam is from IT'S A GREAT LIFE (1929). The source of Moon Ballet is uncertain, possibly from the unreleased MGM revue feature THE MARCH OF TIME (1930).
