WPIX Channel 11 (NYC)-- that was my channel! They started airing L&H shorts and features from Janus with this introduction starting in 1979. Previously, in the70s (as far back as my memories go), WPIX only aired THE FLYING DEUCES and MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS.

At the same time, they started airing the Stooges as well after a long hiatus. (I think they had stopped early to mid 70s.)
Previously (before the Janus package in 1979), some of the L&H features were aired on WOR Channel 9 (also NYC). I don't remember them airing any shorts. Prior to that, WNYC Channel 5 aired both the features and shorts. The former were severely edited to fit into a one hour time slot on Saturday mornings from 8:30am to 9:30am. Included were the Governor and Regal TV cut-downs of the features, even though they showed some of these features in longer versions. So you either got one feature in the hour, or 2 shorts or feature cut-downs.
Ah, memories...
Burt Lancaster was too short!
