Even an ignoramus such as I knows who Yogi was, and appreciates his contributions to the language.  I also respect his status among memorable baseball players, of course.

I just learned that Yogi served the USA during the War.  He was among the forces on the water during D-Day.  Impressive.

According to what I read - - and I can't remember where I read it - - yes, the bear was named after the man as a humorous tip of the hat.
