The legendary Sid Caesar died Feb. 12 in Beverly Hills, at age 91.  During the 1950s, Sid was a pioneer in television sketch comedy, both in format and setting a bar of excellence.  During that decade, Sid's writing team included talents like Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Larry Gelbart, and even Woody Allen.

Sid was one of the stars of IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD (1963), and later in his career costarred in GREASE (1978) and appeared in the "tribute" film STOOGEMANIA (1986).

I'm shocked to find this out just now. I must have been on the road the day it was reported. I know that Imojene Coca died soon after the "Vacation" movie shooting, so I wonder how many players and writers from that show survive?
