Good news regarding the Stooges and Best Buy!

Along with being a HUGE Three Stooges fan, I am also a pretty big fan of the 1980s NBC sitcom Cheers.  Earlier this week I visited a local Best Buy to do some price shopping on various season sets on DVD.  Out of curiosity, I made my way to the comedy section to see which Stooges releases were being stocked.  I was so happy to see that, not only were they stocking Sony's Volume One collection, but that they had THREE copies for sale at $19.99 each.  I am so glad that stores are actually carrying this title.  The more stores that carry it, the easier it will be for the casual fan to find it.  This works in our favor, seeing that the more copies sold, the better chance we have at getting future sets released.  Volume Two is on the way, but we're only half-way through the Curly years.  We haven't even entered the Shemp and Besser eras yet.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Best Buy and other stores actually stock the new set when it is released in May.  I bought my copy of Volume One from Best Buy on the release date.  Here's looking forward to May! [cheers]

Hopefully Best Buy has learned that the Three Stooges still sell well and won't have just 2 sets per store when Volume 2 comes out.  Sure, it's great that they have more of Volume 1 available for late comers, but when you go to their store on release day and have to find 1 of 2 sets that they ordered...it stinks.   :-\

Yeah.  What was really weird for me, was going all the way to Huntsville to specifically go to Best Buy on the release day and not finding the Stooges set.  Then, stopping by Walmart in Athens later that day and accidentally running across a set.  In fact, Walmart had like 10 copies of it!  I'm going to Walmart on the release day this time, instead of driving all those extra miles for nothing.  (Incidentally, the cities in question are in Alabama.)

Except for two locations in Illionis and one in Atlants, Fry's is a California-only retailer.

That's where I purchased Volume 1. They do have a bigger selection than Best Buy, even carrying some real obscure titles, but they tend to be more expensive.

The FYE's around me have - by far - the widest selection of Stooge DVDs. Usually at or above list price, though. Better off buying online either way.

That's why I never buy at FYE. In fact, whenever I see an FYE, I don't bother walking in the store as I'm afraid I might get a heart attack when I take one look at their terrible prices.
