A network re-presentation of the Jan. 2, 1955 episode "Rose Bowl Game" (see its listing for story and cast details), with a slight retitling in the network's press information.
Jack Benny ended new episodes of his radio show in May 1955 and focused full-time on his television program beginning that Fall. Radio was still profitable for CBS and sponsor Lucky Strike, so one year later in October 1956 Jack's Sunday night radio timeslot returned as THE BEST OF BENNY with repeats of 1952 - 1954 episodes. Minor editing was done for the show's title and some sponsor content, i.e., the Sportsmen Quartet's in-episode, musical commercials were often cut and replaced with contemporary Lucky Strike ad content.
