The Stooges are moving men sent to a spooky old mansion on a rainy night to move some old furniture, including a suit of armor. The armor objects to leaving, however, as it is inhabited by the spirit of Peeping Tom the tailor, who was cursed when he saw Lady Godiva ride by centuries ago. Intent on moving Tom, the boys find themselves trapped in the house with animated skeletons and a flying skull.

Highlights:-- Shemp's 'Desmond of the Outer Sanctorum' bit.-- Moe's hair standing on end and Larry's hat flying in the air when the suit of armor speaks to them.-- Moe's head getting stuck between the two table halves.-- Shemp's fast-motion jumping around and spinning on the floor when the frog is in his clothes.-- The skeletons playing chess.
Lowlights:-- This short seemed doomed from the start with an already awful and lame plot (a talking suit of armor).' There wasn't much to work with' and only a few highlights saved it.' Overall' probably one of my least favorite Shemp films.-- That weak 'Red Skeleton' reference.-- The old 'parrot-in-the-skull' gag.-- 'Lady Godiva's delivery was awful and she couldn't seem any more lifeless.-- I could see the ending (the Stooges getting pied like Sir Tom when looking out the window) coming from miles away.
Funniest Moment:-- The chess-playing skeletons.Small stuff that cracked me up:-- The pained look on Larry's face after Moe says (when thinking that Larry said something when the ghost actually did) 'Oh a wiseguy' huh-- and hits him on the stomach and head.-- Again' look at Larry's face when the Stooges are drinking the milk.' After each sip' Larry looks at his glass of milk with a funny expression as if he's thinking 'Now THAT'S good milk!'-- The weird look on Larry's face (yeah' yet another 'pay attention to Larry' moment; I'm sorry) after Shemp's 'Red Skeleton' joke' as if even he hated that joke.
Misc. Observations:-- Who was that actor playing Sir Tom in the flashback with him getting a pie in the face-- I know that actor wasn't Phil Arnold' the actual voice of Sir Tom.-- Speaking of Phil Arnold as the voice of the armor' I remember when I first saw this short years ago' I thought that was actually Curly as the voice of the armor.' If you listen' the voice does sound quite a lot like Curly's normal speaking voice.

A "so-so" short for me, tho' I can find so laughs in it. Everyone seemed to be "in low gear" throughout the effort.

I agree with a lot of the earlier sentiments about this short. I too have been a lifelong fan of horror movies and loved this short to death when I was a kid. All the Stooges were great in it. The storyline may be a bit weak, but the short was pretty good overall. Now I think YOU better go get the armor. Let's not be afraid!ISLIPP-you TRIPP. ©2001Edited by - ISLIPP on 11/15/2001 6:30:07 PM

Well, an "F" from the ever aristocratic Stooge pulled me from the M.I A. status (I've just been very busy) Stooge, get off it. Do you just like to hear yourself talk? An F? Come on, you know damn well, this is not worthy of an "F" (and who asked you to give Entertainment weekly letter grades anyway?) You know Stooge, I get the feeling that I could get along with you. You're a very observant fan. But when you brutalize these "average but memorable" shorts like some angry gay critic, I think, "This guy is just being a jerk, he thinks he's higher than thou." You don't want to sound like that, do you Stooge? "THE GHOST TALKS" is not "great", but it is mostly enjoyable & memorable(check out my review in the comments section, along with Dunrobin's and others.) We certainly don't think it's an "F." Since I do think "letter grading" is cool, I'll give "THE GHOST TALKS" a B- (I think that's about right) Also, I don't care about the Lady Godiva actress and her poor line delivery. It's one line, who really cares. Fave bits: Shemp's "Welcome...This is Desmond" speech and the "Go away boys, ya botha me!" line from the chess playing skeleton.

This episode wasn't the best Shemp short. There were funny moments like Shemp talking about strange happenings and making consistent wisecracks. But the plot and some of the jokes weren't very good. This is a more mixed Shemp episode.
