LAW & ORDER - Consultation

Air Date/Released Wednesday, December 9, 1992
Station/Studio NBC / Wolf Films

“In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.”

A pregnant Nigerian woman and her baby die when one of the drug packets she was smuggling internally ruptures. The investigation leads to a heroin smuggling ring, involving a Nigerian tribal chief claiming Diplomatic Immunity. The D.A. staff compares their witness list against the defendant’s long list of highly regarded character witnesses...
Schiff: Credibility! It’d be nice if one your witnesses had an iota.
Stone: Well, this is a conspiracy to smuggle drugs, Adam. You can’t expect a busload of nuns.
Robinette: We can... from the other side of the court. Nwaka’s got ten character witnesses. Six of them are members of the Nigerian Parliament.
Schiff: And we’ve got Larry, Moe and Curly.
