Moe, Larry, and Shemp reminisce about the sweethearts that they met in Europe during the war, who are coming to the States to marry them. Toasting their good fortune with some Old Panther (Distilled Yesterday), the boys wind up sozzled, leading to a seltzer fight and a hungover morning that finds Shemp's feet encased in a tub of cement. If they hope to meet the girls' boat, there's only one thing left to do... blast!

The flashback sequences with Moe and Larry were reused as stock footage in FIFI BLOWS HER TOP (1958).

I guess I have the opposite reaction to this short. Overall, I think it only rates a "fair" at best, with the funniest stuff at the beginning.

Shemp's flashback scene is hilarious! Over beers, Shemp's girl speaks quickly to him in French, and based on my limited knowledge, she asks something along the lines of "Do you come here often?". Shemps response (and it has to have been ad libbed) was "I don't know, a fly went into mine too, but don't mind it. Drink up kid..."

The first half is boring and the flashbacks aren't that funny and just seem like filler for the first half. This does pick up a little in the 2nd half when the Stooges get drunk. The highlight was when Shemp had his feet caught in the tub of cement, and everytime Moe would punch Shemp backwards, Shemp would bounce back forward and accidentally hit Moe and Larry.

Great short, the ending was the best part when Shemp and his girl fall into the ocean. The flashbacks were a bit long, but the seltzer fight was great. I think the length of the flashbacks kept this short from being a 4-poker.

Grade: A- (3 1/2 pokes)

An Excellent short.I saw it in Oct 1996 on Famliy channel,it will provide you with 100 laughs a minute.Family Channel edited out scenes if the short was longer than 15 minutes and they didn't do this one on "Stooge TV" C3 tell Fox Family to give AMC all the damn stooges short before you get killed understand me?

Great short. I agree, the stories about their fiances were lame, but from that point on, it was hilarious!A+ B. Bopper - President of The Amalgamed Association of Morons, local 6 & 7/8

I disagree with your review, I really liked this one and thought it was pretty funny. the only downside of this short are the stooges' stories. If it weren't for that, this short would be darn near perfect. The part when the stooges get drunk is great. In the end it makes you kind of wonder, doesn't Shemp die from the weight of the cement when falling into the ocean? 3 1/2 pokesEdited by - Mike Holme on 10/1/2001 1:35:09 AM
