HORSE ANNOUNCER:  (In a serious and low monotone voice):  "Bourbon Boy is going to the left.  Road Time is coming in at the right.  Marine Gear is at the outside.  And Bourbon Boy is coming up front.  And Marine Gear's now at the inside.  And it's going to be a driving finish between Marine Gear and Bourbon Boy.  Bourbon is taking the lead.  And Road Time is coming in at the right.  Marine Gear's now at the left.  And something has happened to Roseland."

While the announcer was calling the horses we see the 'Star Reporter', for 'The New York Daily Express Newspaper,' John J. Forbes, at his seat jumping up and down in excitement as he is cheering his horses onto victory.

JOHNNY FORBES:  (In total glee as he is waving his hands to help his horses onto victory and is holding a tout sheet):  "Come on Long John, come on baby, Long John come on, come on Long John, come on baby.  Come on Bourbon Boy, come on, come on Bourbon Boy!"

As Johnny was cheering his horses onto victory he does a double-take glance as we see a gentleman with a camera by the name of Chester Mathews, the mobster.  Mr. Mathews is now focusing his camera on the horse Roseland and her jockey, as Chet has now gunned them down.  We now see the mobster, Chet Mathews exiting the crime scene as he is being chased by Johnny Forbes.

HORSE ANNOUNCER:  (After Chet has now gunned down Roseland and her jockey in a really excited voice):  "Something has happened to Roseland.  Roseland goes into the ditch.  And it's Bourbon Boy, the winner!"

Johnny Forbes has now caught up with Chet Mathes as he is grabbing Mr. Mathews and his camera as Johnny is now throwing both Chet and his camera to the ground after Chet has hit Johnny with the camera.

BETH CORNELL'S FIRST SONG: {START}:

"There goes my romance, and all my dreams of you.  Who whispered sweet nothings that nevre will come true.  There goes my romance, you're taking it away, and leaving me nothing but sighs and sighs of grey.  I found that love would be a cause for applause and cheer.  But now I know it's only another occasion for tears.  So, farewell to my romance, that's not the saddest part.  Along with my romance there goes my foolish heart.  I though that love would be a cause for applause and cheer.  But now I know it's only another occasion for tears.  So, farewell to my romance, that's not the saddest part.  Along with my romance there goes my foolish heart."

"I lived at a slow pace.  But a slow pace got me no place.  So I'm gathering spee, so that is what I need.  I've changed to a fast clip.  And I'm all set for a fast trip.  Cuz I'm out to make time.  I'm trying to find, I'm hitting the hot spots.  I'm ready to do the town.  No worries to weigh me down.  I'm gettin' that swing.  I'm hitting the hot spots.  Don't want any good advice.  I'm willing to pay the price.  I'm having my fling.  I'm true like be ever like a mourner.  I've learned a few things.  I'm true sittin' in a corner.  I'm sittin' in a hot spot.  I'm crossing the danger line.  So hang out the danger sign.  Look out below.  Cuz I'm trying, from high flying and I'm dieing to go."
