"Am I dumb!" as Moe would say.  It took the opening credits of a Columbia movie, "The Howards of Virginia," to inform me that Waldo Twitchell was a real person.  All this time I thought Waldo Twitchell was the Stooges' version of Walter Winchell in "Loco Boy Makes Good."  And today I learn that WT was a technical advisor and historian on several full-length motion pictures, according to IMDB.

An odd coincidence, for sure, but the Waldo Twitchell character in Loco is certainly meant to be a play on Walter Winchell, the gossip columnist, who would be in a position to make or break the new nightclub.  An added benefit would be that if the real Walter Winchell got huffy about the use of his name and threatened to sue, Columbia's legal department could say "what are you talking about? Waldo Twitchell is an employee here at Columbia."  Far-fetched, but possible.
