I hope everyone has been catching all the Mack Sennett silent films showing on Turner Classic Movies over the past three weeks. There have been some real rarities, all restored and looking great!
On Thursday night, September 27 TCM will be running their final marathon of Sennett shorts, this time including some talkies and there will be several that should be of interest to Three Stooges fans, including:
THE GREAT PIE MYSTERY (1931) - the original version of the story remade as SPOOK LOUDER with The Stooges.
THE LOUD MOUTH (1932) starring Matt McHugh - remade as one of Shemp's best solo shorts MR. NOISY in 1946 (after already having been remade in 1940 with Charley Chase as THE HECKLER).

Several of the shorts feature familiar and favorite Stooges supporting actor Vernon Dent, including:
HOBOKEN TO HOLLYWOOD (1926).
SATURDAY AFTERNOON (1926) starring Harry Langdon.
SEA DOG'S TALE (1926) with Andy Clyde.
THE GOLF NUT (1927).
THE PRIDE OF PIKEVILLE (1927).
FIDDLESTICKS (1927) starring Harry Langdon.
THE BEST MAN (1928).
HIS UNLUCKY NIGHT (1928) also with Bud Jamison.

Others with Bud Jamison include:
MATCH PLAY (1930) - Bud sings in this one!
THE DENTIST (1932).
DON'T PLAY BRIDGE WITH YOUR WIFE (1933).

Several shorts are directed by future Stooges director Del Lord, including:
HOBOKEN TO HOLLYWOOD (1926).
SEA DOG'S TALE (1926).
THE GREAT PIE MYSTERY (1931).
THE LOUD MOUTH (1932).

Thanks for the reminder.  I'm looking forward to this Thursday more than any other as I tend to like later Mack Sennett best.  While there are earlier Sennett shorts I like, as a whole they tend to be so fast paced I don't even know what's going on half the time!

I like later Sennett, though, and the shorts I have seen here are great, FIDDLESTICKS especially!

Late update:

The TCM schedule for the Sennett shorts for Sept. 27 has just been changed.

Dropped is the silent short A HAREM KNIGHT (1926), replaced by ICE COLD COCOS (1926).

And the talkie shorts THE LOUD MOUTH (1932) and THE GREAT PIE MYSTERY (1931) have been replaced by SPEED IN THE GAY 90'S (1932) and TOO MANY HIGHBALLS (1933).

Sorry to bump up such an old thread, but I happened to see HIS UNLUCKY NIGHT today and, wow, what a cast! Billy Bevan, Vernon Dent, Bud Jamison, Andy Clyde, and Carole Lombard! Sennett certainly had a gift when it came to finding talent.
