R.I.P. Doug Dillard of "The Dillards," 75, acclaimed bluegrass musician (banjo) and composer died Wednesday in Nashville.

Arriving in L.A. in 1962, "The Dillards" (Doug, his brother Rodney, Dean Webb & Mitch Jayne) and their mix of bluegrass and folk were a hit in the Sunset Strip clubs, and soon found themselves cast as recurring players on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW as the backwoods 'Darling' family.
