Karl Slover of THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) and Laurel & Hardy's BLOCK-HEADS (1938) died at age 93 on November 15 in Atlanta.

I never made the connection that he was in both BLOCKHEADS and WIZARD OF OZ. Now I feel compelled to search out that scene on the new LH DVDs.

Karl's gag line is dubbed with a baritone.  Some sources credit Billy Bletcher, but that's probably not right.  Many fans and L&H experts like Randy Sketvedt believe that it's character actor Chill Wills, who was working at Roach at that time with The Avalon Boys (WAY OUT WEST).
