The history of St. John Publishing will be the focus of
Alter Ego # 77, May 2008 issue.
St. John published 9
Three Stooges comic books:
- 2 issues in 1949 (under SJ's 'Jubilee' banner), with Moe, Larry & Curly,
- 7 issues, 1953 - 1954, with Moe, Larry & Shemp
Norman Maurer (Moe's son-in-law) wrote & pencilled/inked all 9 issues, co-editing the books with his partner, legendary DC Comics artist/editor Joe Kubert. Norm and Joe coproduced several other comic book series for St. John. Typically, the partners would contribute backup stories in each other's books.
