Ted Okuda and James Neibaur have teamed up to write a new book about Stan Laurel. It's titled Stan without Ollie: The Stan Laurel Solo Films, 1917-1927 and will be released by McFarland on May 18th. Jerry Lewis has written the forward. Amazon has a pre-order at $38 (McFarland books tend to run expensive).

I'm sure this will be an awesome read. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Stan Laurel solo, a few shorts I like but most seem to be second rate and not as good as what he'd achieve later. That said, I'd love to read a good evaluation of this phase of his career, perhaps it'll make me rethink things.

I recall James saying something on Facebook about the book coming out earlier than the official release date.
