Cumberland House has shipped One Fine Stooge, the long awaited Larry Fine biography, to stores. Its official release date is March 15, so be looking for it on Wednesday.

Author Steve Cox received his advance copy a few days ago, and he told me today that it exceeds his expectations.  The publisher, Cumberland House, is a small operation but has turned out some quality tomes.  Cumberland published Steve's critically praised It's a Wonderful Life: A Memory Book, a history and behind-the-scenes tribute to IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE a couple years ago.

I perused a galley copy of One Fine Stooge a few months ago, and based on that pre-edit draft version, it is an impressive tribute to Larry Fine.  The basis of the book was Larry's surviving scrapbook and memoir collection.  It schews toward the DeRita years, and that reflects the content of Larry's memoir collection.  Still, the years with Curly and Shemp are also well-represented.  Many family members contributed their memories, and love.  It pulls no punches on his personal life, but it's also very respectful, well-researched and a fun read.

Steve recommends Amazon.com for best pricing on the book, and it can be ordered directly from Cumberland @ (800) 439-BOOK [2665].  Better bookstores will carry it as well.
