Stooge Calender Woes

Every year for about ten, I get a Stooge calender. It seems that each year the makers of these calenders ruin the still picture more and more with some graphic "design". It seems to me they are out to keep folks from making decent scans of the pictures. Are the publicity stills P.D. and this is why they do this?

I think they are done that way with a silly graphic, frame, or askew picture so people cant put them in picture frames!
Remember when they used to have important dates in Stooges history on the dates they happened, like birthdays and such???

I don't believe that any of the studio stills will be considered "public domain", since Comedy III has the copyrights to the Stooges characters and likenesses, and Columbia/Sony holds the copyrights to all of the films (except for the four shorts that were accidentally allowed to become public domain.
