I have a 3D Super 8mm Sound print of PARDON MY BACKFIRE and it's pretty good. Better than regular 2D. The red/blue glasses bug me, but once you get use to them, the 3D effects work.
I recently got into the 8mm hobby mainly because I wanted PARDON MY BACKFIRE in real 3D. It's my favorite Shemp/Stooge film.
Last year there was a 3D festival in NY. They showed some Vincent Price films and both of the Three Stooge 3D shorts. It was a process called dual camera that had 2 cameras going at the same time. I never heard of the process before.
I also never saw the 3D Stooge films in real 3D. I went to the theater and we put on these 3D black glasses. The place was packed. I thought I'd be the only person there. Anyway, the Stooge films were AWESOME!!! It was a million times better in 3D than the regular TV versions. I was instantly hooked. I had to have PARDON MY BACKFIRE in 3D so I could play them in my house. It was also great to see the films on the big screen. I could finally see how Larry had the wire go up his nose. There was a little tube stuck to the side of his face where the wire went through.
So, you can get 8mm and 16mm 3D prints on Ebay. I've seen the 16mm versions go for 300-600 bucks and the 8mm prints go for 50-100 bucks.
If you ever get a chance to see the Stooge films in 3D do it. You'll be glad you did... They're really cool and it's totally different than the regular TV versions.
