Those are some great pictures and very interesting articles.  I just saw this and took a quick look at the links; I'll have to find some time later to read them in depth.  Thanks for posting them!

The photo of the Stooges with Primo Carnera was taken in connection with the 1933 feature film, "The Prizefighter and the Lady".  There is also newly discovered silent film footage of the Stooges greeting Carnera as he steps off a train in what appears to be a publicity tour for the film, leading to speculation that the Stooges may have been slated to appear in the film, or their appearance in the film was edited out of the final release version. See "Three Stooges Journal" #114 for more details.

All in all, one of the best contributions here in a while. The photo of the Stooges with Primo Carnera is a hoot, because of the way he towers over them. Too bad he never appeared in a short, but the boys must have had him in mind years later when they made "Gents In A Jam" with Mickey Simpson as Rocky Duggan, "The Strongest Man in the World."

The vintage Stars & Stripes article is good reading, too, despite the fact that the reporter gets Curly Joe mixed up with Curly. The editor didn't catch this? Oh well...

I'll always remember this most about the article about Cawley visiting Moe -

"Perhaps my most vivid memory of Moe came from an attempted compliment. A few weeks earlier, the Lenburgs and I had viewed the Super 8mm sound release of KOOK'S TOUR. The film was the last performance of Moe, Larry and Joe DeRita. (It was during the filming of this project that Larry had the stroke that confined him to a wheelchair.) I told Moe I enjoyed the film. Moe instantly became tense and demanded to know how I had seen the film. He then announced it was illegal to have! The Lenburgs and I looked at each other uneasily. I replied that it had been purchased through a home video company and named the company. Moe paused a moment, then muttered a, "oh yes." He paused again and then started telling about how KOOK'S TOUR had come about."

"Illegal to have...." Well, judging by the fan comments here about it, maybe it should be.  ;D

Thanks for the great pics. I don't understand that one page though..

Joe Crawley is spending Christmas with the Bessers. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought Curly-Joe was the only one out of the Stooges to have not been Jewish? The Bessers had a Christmas tree and everything. Interesting none the less.

A few more goodies I've stumbled upon -

http://www.walkerpub.com/radio_stooges.html - A fan's encounter with the Stooges after a 1963 radio interview.

- Rare on-the-set photos from "... Meet Hercules." I found them at Samson Burke's website.

- Odd photo of Moe, likely in the 1970s, perhaps at his home?

- backstage with Rick Saphire in 1964.

Some nice shots here, falsealarms. However, I had no idea who Rick Saphire was, so I did a Google search and found out:

http://ricksaphire.com/

He's a talent agent, apparently still in business, but his client list consists largely of people who are pretty long in the tooth. I swear, I thought at least half of these celebs and semi-celebs were dead!

He is going have to take Tommy Bond off the list, though...  :-[
