Thanks for the opportunity to ask this here.

I've been trying to recall the name of one of the shorts so I can hopefully watch it online. It was one of the ones they did where the boys were involved in horse racing. One of the gags in this one is very quick; I first saw when I was a kid but have never forgotten it. Curly is riding a horse out of a stall backwards and knocks a chunk of wood out of the overhead doorframe. Larry, walking behind, gazes up at the missing chunk with a look of pure awe or terror. It was hilarious to see and I'd like to see it again. I find a lot of the more seeming throwaway gags are the best, especially ones with Larry. Anyway, thanks very much for any help, I know you all will know the one I'm looking for.

I am looking for the title of an episode that had the stooges attending a dinner that an ambassador or duke also attended - some kind of ruler. The duke was new to the customs of the west so thought that he would follow the habits of the stooges in order to use proper etiquette...TOTALLY funny!

Hi: first-time poster here.

I don't have a question about the Stooges or shorts themselves, but I have a couple questions about the filmographies. (The main board for this sort of thing hasn't had a reply in two years, so I'm hesitant to post there.)

For the Production Notes for Flat Foot Stooges (1938), the shooting dates are listed as From: 1937-10-25 To: 1937-10-28. Was this intended to say 1938?

Also, ID question: Is that Geneva Mitchell in Pop Goes the Easel (1935)? I have a screenshot pre-clay smattering (but I apparently and unfortunately can't attach it) - it doesn't really look like her to me.

I just checked, and the database does say 1938 for the shooting dates, not 1937.

As far as Geneva Mitchell, wouldn't surprise me considering the timeframe. I'll study the picture more in a bit.

I never knew it though, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. She's one of those shooting stars who didn't last long with the Stooges or on this Earth in general. A lot of those, sadly.

Indeed. Gone too soon.

And also: the Geneva thing has been on there for a while; as far back as April/May (I tried bringing this to attention on Nitrateville and in a message to the Lost Stooge Players blog, but neither of those really got anywhere, it would appear).

I personally don't think it's her (note that I said I didn't think so at the end of my initial message); there's a passing resemblance, I guess, but in the end, it doesn't look like her to me. Again, I took a screenshot pre-clay hit, but apparently, I can't attach it (I dunno if it's because I'm a new, fresh-faced poster around here and there are certain rules about that - similar to how we can't start new topics until after 15 posts).

EDIT: I now realize how my original post could've been construed as me identifying her. My bad.

It's a head shot, maybe a professional publicity picture.
Emil has a confused look on his face.
I think it might be the funniest picture ever taken of a human face.
That's all the info I have.
Can anyone fill me in with so little information?
Would there be somewhere online to purchase official old pictures like this one?

I am 50 and saw a hilarious bit in a Stooges short a long time ago. I've spent hours searching for it in vain and now I've found your site of experts who I'm hoping can help me. The short in question is the boys are in the army/cavalry or something like that. They are out in the field and trying to set up a huge canvas tent in a snowstorm but the snow causes the tent to bow down almost to the floor. They're getting frustrated with it so (I believe this is what happened) Moe tells Curly to prop it up, Curly grabs a big tent pole and aas he's pushing it up the tent tears and buries them all in snow!!! Can anyone tell me which one that is or even just any clues?? Thank you in advance for your help!!

Unless my memory is already failing me, the only short with such an event would be "Rockin' Thru the Rockies", in which the Stooges aren't in the military but instead are part of a traveling theater troupe that gets lost in the middle of a forest on their way to their next engagement. They have to take shelter in the fake cabin they carry around for "Uncle Tom's Cabin", and the roof ends up collapsing after a snowstorm and an attempt by Curly to prop up the roof with a large piece of wood.

Glad to help! It's a short that's particularly near and dear to my heart, actually. When I was student teaching in a 6th grade classroom, finishing my teaching degree, I had to teach Language Arts, and one of the stories we read involved an expedition to Antarctica that mostly survived despite being trapped there for a very long time. I ended up showing the class "Rockin' Thru The Rockies" at the end of that week, as a compare/contrast with the story, and not only did it work fabulously, but it also left many of the kids insisting that I bring in more of the Stooges whenever I could

This is a question for Stooge filmography experts, and one that I have been wondering about for a long time. In the as yet officially unreleased film Myrt and Marge, did Donna Damerel (Marge) perform the entire dancing act (including the various flips, backflips, etc.) that start at around the 25:31 mark (in my copy of the film, at least), or was that performed by someone else (stunt performer or dancer)? It looks like it is her but I just want to be sure, since my copy's image quality is not great and I could find little information about Donna Damerel in general.

I am doing some research on vaudeville performances in the '20 and '30 and any help would be immensely appreciated.

Hello and welcome, Alex 1. I am probably the least knowledgeable moron in Moronika, so I can't answer your question. However, I often visit a site which may help you find answer. It's www.nitrateville.com. There's a section for silent movies at the top, and the section for talkies is directly below that. There are other sections, too, as you'll see. Even if they can't help you, you'll see it's a fascinating site for lovers of old-time cinema.
