Includes 8 full-length features in high definition: Time Out For Rhythm, Rockin' in the Rockies, Have Rocket – Will Travel, The Three Stooges Meet Hercules, The Three Stooges in Orbit, The Three Stooges Go Around the World in a Daze, The Outlaws Is Coming and The Three Stooges (2000)

I'm sure many people have been pining for those features in HD, particularly the last one listed. The heck with the missing 90, as long as we get those 8 features!

Look at some of the reviews:

But, for under $40 (before tax), this DVD set wasn't a bad deal. There's no way they imagined people might still wanna watch these 90 years after the first episodes were filmed (1934 or so), and my understanding is that home video wasn't a thing then at all, and these Three Stooges shorts were played before movies in the movie theaters, and of course other shorts existed.

Wrong review, for a release that hasn't been released yet!!! We need Moe to poke amazon in the eye. They need a toupee with some brains in it. [3stooges]

My thoughts exactly. Such lamebrains working at Sony!

And amazon for posting reviews of the old DVD set there.

Every company I've ever worked for was huge. I learned to try not to make sense of any decisions they made. It's like they did the George Costanza "do the opposite of your instinct."

Hey everyone! It's been ages since I've been on here....I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I think this set will be fascinating. Yes, I know, they are skipping out on almost half the shorts, but I am anxiously anticipating its' arrival. I am hoping they will also take the time to fix up some of the glitches that were there on the DVD collection as well.

One question, though....I was browsing through Amazon when I happened to notice an apparent delay. According to them, this set will now release on August 13th. If this is true, I am sad to say we will be waiting awhile longer. I will mention as well that looking around on the internet, the only other page with a release date of 08/13 was Wal-Mart. Everyone else states a release date of 07/23, as we had initially planned.  Anyway, here's the link to the Amazon page below:

https://www.amazon.com/Three-Stooges-Blu-ray-Collection/dp/B0D49XFZ4V/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2MEHRLM78LKLS&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._o0PRvi3g4OOxJaFBCwQN7P4JPd4gdLBwovMzteCzIdAqydQ4XgU2JqD-wnYyUTcPUChtWjwUyNi_h55l5a-RPAU-Na4nZA3PqEimufACcmFkF8kAolK80S9gUKNTqb9zZgbtPSh67xrZ91esdKIm13oIOnDV3mnPV6Qq0bs1cDsRowZ1INU4RfDdhksQBsx2IYqX9N3CYObBNq8ScdVmtg-zNHK_O3negt_Mj6o_JA.QRSluGo2VshW1AsJ8zA7JMTwuUfoLit1DpyboH3O6QQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=three+stooges+blu+ray&qid=1719462404&sprefix=three+stooges%2Caps%2C202&sr=8-1

Can anyone confirm this either way? Thanks guys.

If there's no other place around the place, I reckon this must be the place, I reckon.

Don't let some of us naysayers dissuade you from buying and enjoying it! Now we know that at least one person here can tell us how it is!

And then there's the "old" internet adage for things like this: "If nobody buys it, then they will never release the remainder."

I have no idea of the release date other than what's posted at places you've looked.

There seems to be a delay and there were also some updates to the cover arts, which many of us suspect they are changing the shorts that will be included in this set. Many of us are still waiting for the update. Hopefully Sony doesn't keep us waiting much longer. :)

The way Sony is handling this whole thing leaves a lot to be desired...

Hard to believe we’re less than a week away until release date and we still have no explanation from Sony about the update in the cover arts. Will the list of 100 shorts remain unchanged after all?

Despite the cover art change, I would be pleasantly (but very) surprised if it's not just the 100 shorts.

Yeah. I checked other websites and they’re still showing the original cover arts. It’s only Amazon that has these revised ones. I would think we would have heard something by now if there was a change. So it’s a strong possibility that the set remains the same.

At the risk of beating a dead horse -- they do not know what they are doing.

How strange the cover art changed on one platform, but nowhere else! Sony couldn't have made this upcoming release any more confusing if they tried, UGH!! 🤦???

Through other forums, I've seen that people have began receiving their Blu-ray sets!

Vital Stats (So Far):

- After much much ado about nothing speculation, it is indeed, 100 Three Stooges Columbia shorts for 100 years that are included. Like it or don't, it is what it is!

- GOOF ON THE ROOF (1953), is in fact presented in Widescreen (1:85.1) format in this collection. This is where the latest speculation that the HD transfers may be from the '00s (Frankly, with minor exceptions, such as the aforementioned short, not really an issue!) and not newly minted for this release.

Nevertheless, while I've read at least one positive review in terms of visual quality, it would be nice to know whether some or all of these titles are from new HD transfers!

A poster on another site also said THREE STOOGES SCRAPBOOK is the full half hour pilot, not the 9 minute version.

The extra with Leonard Maltin is reportedly a shade over 17 minutes.

So Goof is the same botched up widescreen version as the DVD, with the heads cut off and all?? Ugh!!!

I know! It's so disappointing to me that the Aspect Ratio issue for GOOF ON THE ROOF (1953, but filmed in late 1952!) wasn't fixed!! Missed opportunity, for sure!!!

GOOF ON THE ROOF is one of my few complaints about the DVD set - and this is coming from somebody who is not a techie kind of guy about these releases.  The fact even that wasn’t fixed makes this more of a pass.

GOOF ON THE ROOF is interesting. iMDB lists the aspect ratio for the film as 1:85, which if true, makes the widescreen version correct. GOOF was filmed in late 1952, but not released until late 1953.

Film historian Stuart Galbraith once wrote:

"Though definitely released in Vitascope, Columbia’s 1.85:1 cropped widescreen process, this short’s super-tight compositions suggest it may have been shot for 1.37:1 and filmed in late-1952 or early-’53, long before its December 1953 release."

GOOF is the one widescreen short that doesn't look good that way but the timeline of its production and release is interesting.

If Sony is putting out something as it was released, I guess we can't fault them too much, though the short might have been shot for a different format in the first place.

I do understand it’s being released the way it was initially released in theaters due to the filming date Vs transition to widescreen.  That said - and this is one man’s opinion - I’d prefer it would be released by how it was actually filmed.  It looks much better.

I do agree with that. It's the one widescreen released short that doesn't benefit from the format.
