The image above the YouTube window is Andy Clyde from an episode of Lassie.  I will post my thoughts on this one next week.  Meanwhile, y'all get the discussion started without me.

It was nice seeing Shemp work in a prime 1940 budget Columbia short.  Pretty episodic with a lot of different comic scenarios and always entertaining.  Even though Andy Clyde is billed the starring comedian, he almost plays the straight man to a Shemp.  Shemp’s character is unlikable, though in a comic way, which I guess is more acceptable when he’s not the “star” comedian.  Entertaining short overall.

Not a lot to say about this. The vignette-style is a nice change of pace, and Shemp makes a much funnier in-law than just about anyone else. The scene with Clyde on the back of the car with the rope is kind of disturbing, but otherwise most of the jokes work. Highlights include the scene with Andy reacting to Shemp’s shooting and Andy accidentally hitting Bud Jamison. I liked it, which is more than I can say for most in-law comedies.

There was unfortunately nothing in this that really stood.  In fact, it was definitely the most tedious short of the Andy Clyde-Shemp Howard triplet.  It's just a bunch of, as Umbrella Sam calls them, vignettes with the commonality of Andy doing something innocently, Shemp turning it into a disaster, and Andy getting the punishment as a result of Shemp's actions.
