The checks paint a pretty sad image of a very ill man - his signature had taken a pretty steep dive by that point. Shaky and very weak looking - the worst examples of it I've ever seen, especially the M on the April 21 check. The April 21 signature looks worse than the one two weeks prior. He would pass away on May 4. On that April 21 check, it almost looks like he signed it but someone else filled in the rest.
