Character actor and voice artist Henry Corden died May 19 at age 85.
Mr. Corden played Ibrim, the Arab assassin who chases Lou Costello thru the Baghdad marketplace in A&C IN THE FOREIGN LEGION (1950).
Henry also costarred in DON'T WORRY WE'LL THINK OF A TITLE (1966), which featured Moe Howard in a minor role as a shyster lawyer.
Henry is one of those actors you see and hear all the time, but don't necessarily know his name. He's best known as 'Fred Flintstone' # 2, replacing the late Alan Reed as the character's voice in 1977; prior to that, he voiced Flintstone whenever the character sang, particularly in the 1966 feature film A MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE (Reed could not carry a tune). Corden was a regular voice actor for Hanna-Barbera characters from the early '60s until his retirement in 2000; there's probably no H-B cartoon series he did not work on. You may also remember him as the landlord on THE MONKEES.
Board member Paul Castaglia mentions that Corden was the narrator for a show called "Harold Lloyd's World Of Comedy," (not to be confused with the feature film of the same name). On PBS in the '70s and '80s, it was a half-hour condensation of scenes from Lloyd's silent comedies... sometimes whole two reelers; sometimes selected scenes from features. These clips were set to typically upbeat music.
