The article about the death of Reynolds' baby and her marriage to John Williams dates from roughly early November 1938. Taking this into consideration, I dug around the CA Birth Index in hopes of finding the baby (presuming it was born in CA). I did find an unnamed Williams baby born on 29 October 1938 in Los Angeles, with the same baby passing away the next day. While searching for THAT, I found yet another sadly- and similarly-shortlived infant, born 29 August 1941 and passing away the next day.

This may sound random at first, but: the mother's maiden name in both searches? MacReynolds (spelled McReynolds on second baby's CA Death Index entry).

Has this been ruled out, or could this be who we're looking for?

Well here is something interesting: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VPG1-59J

A "John A Williams" getting a divorce from one "Eve A", and the IMDB page on what is suspected to be Eve's husband is a "John A Williams"

Intriguing. Interesting how the divorce would occur over 40 years after their marriage, though, but hey, you never know...

EDIT: I'm a Beetlebrain now!
