R.I.P. Gary Owens
Gary was the instrumental person behind The Three Stooges receiving a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, and hosted that unveiling ceremony on August 30, 1983. I had the honor to meet him several times, shared some telephone calls over the years, and interviewed him in 2005 for "
The Three Stooges Journal."
To many of us who grew up during the 1960s, Gary was the man behind the onscreen microphone on ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN (1968 - 1973), and a familiar voice on many Saturday morning cartoons, e.g., SPACE GHOST (1966).
Rest in peace my friend.
