Actor Bob Hoskins passed away yesterday at age 71. Some of his memorable roles have included Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Smee in Hook, and as ex-con George in Mona Lisa, a role that earned him a BAFTA Award and an Oscar nomination. Hoskins also portrayed the video game character Mario in Super Mario Bros. alongside John Leguizamo, who played Luigi.

I first became aware of him in a People magazine article in the eighties. I thought he was excellent in every role he took on, including the ill fated Cotton Club.

It pains me to admit that like Sid Caesar, I didn't know he was gone until I joined this forum.
