A familiar face of 1960s & 1970s television, Malachi Throne has died at age 84.  Malachi costarred with Robert Wagner on IT TAKES A THIEF (1968 - 1970), was 'Commodore Mendez' on the original STAR TREK's 2-parter "The Menagerie" (1967), and was 'False Face' on BATMAN (1966).  A favorite of Irwin Allen, he appeared in several episodes of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (1965 - 1968) and THE TIME TUNNEL (1966 - 1967); on LOST IN SPACE's "The Thief of Outer Space" Malachi guest-starred with Stooge supporting actress Maxine Gates.  A great deal of his career was spent on the stage, and Throne was working until recently in animation voiceover.

I had the opportunity to meet him several times, and he was a fine gentleman.

Just last month, MeTV showed Malachi Throne's appearance on Batman as False Face.  He stated, according to imdb.com, that he didn't want his name shown in the credits because Myrna Fahey (Blaze) was getting $25,000, which was more than he was.  I don't know if that's true, as most people thought that the producers kept his name as "?" until he was vanquished at the end.

And just last week, his appearance as Major Pruhst on Hogan's Heroes was broadcast.  RIP, M.T.!

Malachi Throne also played Romulan Senator Pardek in the Star Trek: The Next Generation two-parter "Unification".
