From 1967 - 1971, Frid starred in the ABC supernatural soap DARK SHADOWS as reluctant vampire 'Barnabas Collins.' Intended as a 3-month gig, Frid's performance struck a chord with viewers, and the producer and writers tweeked Barnabas' character from pure villainy, into a flawed but decent man trapped by a curse he can't control. Within weeks, the struggling soap opera became a ratings hit, and a late 1960s pop culture fad. For Frid, 3 months turned into 4 years.
