Harry Morgan, one of the most durable actors in the history of television, died today at the age of 96. He's best remembered for his Colonel Potter character on MASH, but I always liked him more in his other major role, Officer Bill Gannon in the late 60s version of Dragnet. According to
Laurel & Hardy from the Forties Forward, as a rookie in Hollywood, Morgan was scheduled to appear in Laurel & Hardy's A HAUNTING WE WILL GO, but ultimately didn't. His career spanned 60 years and also included more than 100 movie roles.
A few years ago, I wrote to him and he signed/personalized a 3x5 card to me (I didn't have anything better). Up until the past year or so, he was always great responding to fans.
