I was over my friends house yesterday, and he was showing me some of his Mom's 45's she let him have. It appears both his Mom and my Mom have the Beatles "She Loves You" 45 with "I'll Get You" as the b-side on Vee Jay records. This was released before Capital thought The Beatles would sell in America, so the songs were distributed by small independent labels. I know my Mom has "Hey Jude" and other 45's that are escaping my memory. I do have very distinct memories of being a teenager and playing bass along to my Mom's 45 of "You Keep Me Hanging On" when I bought my Motown bass book. My Grandmother had some Sinatra 78's.
My friend, who was born in 1975, bought some 45's when he was young, but me, born in 1978, never bought a 45 in my life and bough all my singles as a kid on cassette. I guess that few years difference may have made a difference in the dying 45 market.
