How often do you watch The Three Stooges?

Just thought I'd throw this question out there.  My major honeymoon phase was about 10 years ago where I'd watch them constantly and have every detail memorized, but these days I'll anually have a few week long phases where I'm watching a lot of shorts then take a break for a number of months.

What are your current Stooge viewing habits?

I don't watch the shorts on DVD much any more but I watch the shorts on TV on Friday and Saturday. In Chicago they are on Stooge-A-Palooza and Antenna TV. I do watch a lot of the solo stuff on DVD still.

I'm the opposite of JazzBill. I never watch them on TV anymore... I stick exclusively to the DVDs.

I'm kind of like Metaldams. I have a few big bursts of Stooge watching each year with little or none in between. For instance, a few weeks ago, I hammered out 20-30 shorts in a 7-10 day period. I haven't watched any since. When the mood hits, it hits big. I definitely like the freedom owning all the shorts on DVD gives and the re-watchability is hard to top.

I watch them in bursts like you guys, especially since I have the DVDs. I'll usually watch a disc or two at a time for a couple of days then go through a stretch where I don't watch them at all. I've been watching the Stooges for most of my life and have seen them all at least a few times so there's no reason to watch them constantly and burn out on them.

When they're on the TV and whenever I feel like it I put in the DVD.

I watch the DVDs for the most part.  "Sunday with the Stooges" -- generally 4 shorts Sunday night before hitting the sack.  Other times are used as fill-ins for when there is not enough time to view a full episode of HH, MN, MWC, or AYBS.  And to break up the monogamy of having one "Third Stooge" at a time, I watch my DVDs in volume order 1, 5, 2, 6, 3, 7, 4, 8.

As I bowl on Fridays and do not stay up late any night, the only times I watch the Stooges on TV is on Antenna TV Fridays during the off-season (summer), depending on how the Phillies are doing on a particular Friday night.

So you cheat on Curly with Shemp? Or perhaps you have an "open relationship".

I believe the word your looking for is "monotony". ROFL

Oh, a wise guy, eh?  Them's fightin' words in my country.   [pie]

Actually, I meant "monopoly."  Then again, when it comes to malaprops, I'm more like Norm Crosby than Yogi Berra -- mostly intentional.

I watch them almost every time they're on TV also—Stooge-a-palooza, Antenna, AMC. I also watch a few Stooge videos per week on YouTube.

Well, I watch the boys once a week in order from first short to tenth short every friday night. To be honest the Boys help me write, a lot. I have a lot of Stooges Moments with Moe and Shemp

Moe "When you make a left turn put your arm out! *SMACK!*"
Shemp: "Oh!!"

I have that scene however it is with two of my own characters named Lake and Len, Lake is pretty much the embodiment of Moe and Len is either Curly or Shemp. They're all good fun though. In fact if it were not for the weekly watchings, I'd not have so much stuff written
Shemp: Moe! Larry! Wait for me!! *hits himself with shovel*

Daily on TV, until AMC takes a Stooge break, then I look elsewhere.  I hate the five-minute edit jobs AMC airs, but I always seem to find something in the shorts I missed.

At unpredictable intervals--usually a few weeks at a time--I will put a DVD of Stooge shorts into the player and watch all the shorts on it, usually one or two at a time over two or three days.

Then I go hitting people in the face with pies and over the head with shovels.  :o

Lately, I've been watching them every day, looking at the dvd collections in random order & on occasion popping in an old vhs which comes in handy whenever I want to watch Goof on the Roof and not worry about Moe's head being lopped off by widescreen bars.

Not often enough, unfortunately. The last time I watched any short was when volume 8 was released. Every time I bought a new volume, I would watch it once and then put it away (So volume 1's shorts were last watched in October 2007, volume 2's in May 2008, etc).

I have every intention of watching them in the new year. But to be clear I'd rather own them all and not watch them, over not have the option of owning any.

I do exactly what you do in the second half of your sentence: DVDs and YouTube. :D

Not enough for sure.

I am thinking about once a month.  And it's always a good time....watched "Idiots deluxe" last night with a friend from out of town.  A classic night!

Whenever a certain Lifetime or LMN movie comes on I'll see a Stooges short-preceded by a Little Rascals short-on DVD. Don't ask me why, but I've been known to have strange tastes.

Eh, just about every day. I can't get enough!
If there's no other place around the place, I reckon this must be the place, I reckon.

Offline JazzBill

Pretty much every day but lately it's been a lot of solo stuff. ( Mostly Shemp )

After I watched the entire filmography in chronological order, I decided to check the "this day in Stooges history" notes and watch the shorts on their release dates.  Sometimes, you get an interestingly diverse small batch.

I have several of the 6 episodes sets, but need to buy the new anthology set. Watching on AMC can be painful. Have you seen what they are doing to the episodes? Besides editing down one and two reelers down to 7, 5 and even 3 minutes, they are digitally SPEEDING UP the longer episodes. The pitch of the voices is about correct, but the overall speed of the film is way fast. Looks and sounds horrible.  I wrote them (AMC) and the owners of the copyright, but haven't heard anything back. Stop bastardizing these gems!
