Hello (hello, hello!) to all fellow knuckleheads. Haven't been around this forum for a while -- I'm surprised I was still in the system!

Anyway, I may have made a discovery not long ago regarding one of the most ubiquitous sounds in film history, the Wilhelm Scream.

For those not familiar with the Wilhelm Scream, here's the story:

And a little compilation of its use in several films:

Recorded for DISTANT DRUMS in 1951? Hmmm...

Take a listen to Larry's scream as he falls down the dumbwaiter shaft at 12:21 in "Three Little Pigskins."

When I first compared the two, I was (and still am) willing to accept that they were close, but not identical. Yet the more I listen to them, the more they sound the same. Put a quick fade on the end of Larry's scream, and you've got the WS.

If it's not the WS, it's eerie how two actors some 17 years apart could emit screams so identical in pitch and duration.

Am I rewriting motion picture history here, or did I just stumble upon a coincidence?
