Topic: Was Joe Besser Character Gay?

I was doing a Google search for Joe Besser, and i saw joe besser gay in the search suggestions. So i clicked on one of the sites, and it said the character he portrayed in the stooges was a gay character.  I never knew that. Was the stooge character really Gay? It also said he went on to voice act some gay cartoon characters?

Absolutely.  Moe and Larry liked the pies, Joe liked the guys.     Why do you think the short is named PIES AND GUYS?

Seriously, this has been brought up before.  Joe was a child like pansy character, not gay.  If you watch MUSCLE UP A LITTLE CLOSER, I recall he had a girlfriend.

I thought so, i never thought his stooge character was gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That's been a stereotype forever as both being a pansy or wuss and being gay are seen by some as being less of a man.

I've known pansies that are straight and tough gay dudes though.

No, the Joe character was not gay, although if he was it would make no diffrence to me. He showed in several Stooge films he was partial to females. He did however portray someone who was very childish and a "sissy". Also somewhat effeminate like some gay men are. But I've known gay men who were very masculine, so that's not a good indicator of whether a guy is gay or not. It wasn't his fault he didn't mesh well the Stooges, he was just miscast. Jules White thought Curly was the whole act, so when they needed a new 3rd Stooge he thought of Besser because he was childish and fat, like Curly.

Shemp didn't really have those characteristics, and he had much better Stooge chemistry than Joe.  I don't know if it had anything to do with his previous experience as a Stooge before going solo, or his relation with him, Moe, and Curly being brothers, and Larry being like a brother to the Howards.  But the chemistry was there.  I also think that by the time Joe came along, Columbia just didn't care about the short subjects department.  The decline of quality and budget was showing even in the later Shemp shorts.

Oh, I just have a feeling that he would have found some slang that's even more offensive than those.  Guys like Boid aren't new to me.  You find at least one on just about any forum, banned or not yet.

I post on many other forums and believe me, there are nuts/trolls on every forum out there. It just doesn't seem like that sometimes because on some sites, moderators delete all their posts and they ban the person behind the scenes. So, these kinds of people exists everywhere even though it doesn't seem that way.

Ive even seen some trolls that get mad and post shit all over the board or start posting porn everywhere. So Boid Brain was a lightweight really.
