Actor & director Jackie Cooper died May 3 in Santa Monica. He was 88.
A beloved member of "Our Gang" from 1929 - 1931. He went on as one of MGM's top box office child actors, notably THE CHAMP (1931) and TREASURE ISLAND (1934), both with Wallace Beery. After the war, he built a career as a director in film and television, and continued to act thru the 1980s. He starred in HENNESEY (1959 - 1962), THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE (1955 - 1958), costarred as 'Perry White' in SUPERMAN (1978) and its three sequels, directed many 2nd season episodes (1973 - 1974) of M*A*S*H, a murderer on an episode of COLUMBO (1973), and much, much more.
Jackie costarred in
BROADWAY TO HOLLYWOOD (1933), which features Moe and Curly in cameo roles.
