I'm reviving a dead thread, but for good reason: I actually found a "current", original song that I actually like that is performed by a group far too young to collect Social Security. The group is The Silent Comedy and the song is Bartholomew and can currently be heard on promos for the upcoming Hatfield's & McCoy's miniseries on History Channel.

Bands who release their first album in 26 years should not be allowed to release material this good.  A melancholy masterpiece from NWOBHMetallers Angel Witch, "The Horla" off their perfect AS ABOVE, SO BELOW album, which I've been listening to non-stop these past few days.  In case anybody's interested (looking at you, Vomit), enjoy.  It starts out moody and turns into epic melodic metal like Iron Maiden.
