Our little discussion in the Stooge DVD thread inspired me to start this thread.

What TV shows do you guys have on DVD besides the stooges?

I’ll start—

I Love Lucy (all seasons)
Alfred Hitchcock Presents (Seasons 1-3)
The Honeymooners (Classic 39 Collection)
The Abbott and Costello Show (All 52 episodes. These were the original DVD releases by Shanachie)

Firefly (The Complete Series, also on Blu-ray)

I also casually own Batman: The Animated Series (Vol 2), Popeye (Vol 1), and Looney Tunes (Vol 3).

Here are the ones I have on DVD so far, in no particular order:

  • The Wild, Wild West (Complete, including the TV movies)
  • F Troop (Complete)
  • The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. (Complete)
  • Stargate SG-1 (Seasons 1 through 7; still need to collect seasons 8, 9, and 10.  I also have the original Stargate movie with Kurt Russell, and the two SG-1 movies that followed the series, and even "Children of the Gods", the re-edit of the first two episodes of SG-1.)
  • Stargate Atlantis (All five seasons)
  • Chef! (British comedy starring Lenny Henry.  All three seasons.)

That's it so far for TV shows.  There are still quite a few series that I like to have: Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, and Married... with Children, to name a few.   ;)

What TV Shows do I own?

Abbott and Costello, Seasons 1 and 2, and nothing else.

I don't really collect TV shows.  Have tons of old horror films, silent movies, some Red Sox stuff, some wrestling DVD's, and other movies I like, but I don't collect TV shows.  I guess I get my fill with whatever is on syndication.

I'm kinda with metaldams on this one. I don't have many TV series collections. It's mostly old horror & sci-fi movies, some plain & some on MST3K DVDs.
 [pottytrain3]
As for TV series collections (with some editorial commentary):
Twilight Zone  -  Seasons 1 thru 4 so far with plans to buy more
Dexter  -  Seasons 1 thru 4 (only sets released so far)
MST3K  -  4 random sets - if they were less expensive, I would probably own more
Lost in Space - Season 1 so far. My wife loves this one from when she was a young'un. I'm planning to buy Season 2 for her for a birthday present. (as for me, I would have strangled Dr. Smith after the first episode & the show would have been over, I guess)

Well, actually from 2000, right on up until last year, I didn't have cable or even an antenna! The place I stay at right now has cable, but I never seem to watch much more than Turner Classic Movies. And that's a very rare occasion.

I'm spoiled to series' and movies on video. No commercials!!

I.. hate.. commercials!   >:(

Yes, “Chef!”!   My wife and I loved that show – I wish I would have bought the series when I saw it at Sun Coast Video some years ago.

The only other complete series I own besides the 3 Stooges are I Love Lucy and Seinfield.

I have most of the Sanford & Sons.  I have a few each of:

    Green Acres
    The Dick Van Dyke Show
    Make Room for Daddy
    The Jack Benny Show
    The Beverly Hillbillies
    Ozzie & Harriet

Any other Green Acres fans out there?  I always thought what that show had in common with the 3 Stooges is how each series stretched realty.

I had the first 8 seasons of South Park but have since given them to friend (you can watch every episode on southparkstudios.com).

As I said in the other thread I have the entire run of That 70's Show. I also have the first 6 or 7 seasons of All In The Family (not quite sure because they were my mother's and I grabbed them when she passed) and the first season of Archie Bunker's Place. I also have seasons 1-3 of Heroes. The first season is stellar but it quickly went downhill afterward.

Seriously, CHiPs is a pretty awesome TV show. It's a shame a good show like that is pretty much forgotten today. It doesn't air in syndication anymore and they only released the first two seasons on DVD. Hmm. Now, I'm tempted to grab Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. I remember seeing both seasons on sale for less than $20 at one point on Amazon, but I knew I wasn't going to have the time to watch them, so I didn't take advantage of the deal. And now, I regret it.

I do now but I didn't when I first moved out on my own (last year).  For the reason you mentioned but then I got feeling the need to channel surf and whatnot (most people are never satisfied with what they have, lol). Now I'm hooked on the Oldies channel where they play oldies music 24/7. I can't find an oldies station where I live.

I am a TV Lover. I'm looking forward to the upcoming season sets of Car 54, Where Are You? and Dennis the Menace.

PS: Stooge-Adam did you win the lottery? Oh and by the way i hope you have a good security system?  ;D A thief would make a killing at your place.

That's a bit much, and a lot of crap in there too (Saved By The Bell, Sonic The Hedgehog to name a couple) but eyeing that list I think I saw Incredible Hulk in there which reminded me that I had forgotten it in mine.

Yeah, looking at that long list, I forgot to include Happy Days Seasons 3-4 on my list. How could I forget the Fonz?

Just wondering, does the edited or changed content affect your dvd buying habits? It sure does with me. As I mentioned I didn't buy all of "TOur OF Duty" due to the exclusion of the original music. Also, I noticed a few mentions of "Happy Days" which does not include the original "Rock Around The CLock" theme in the first season and I believe they changed some other music as well? I would have bought maybe the first three seasons otherwise. (The latter seasons were pretty silly.) I have the "Guns Of Will Sonnett" dvd sets and they are chopped up so bad you can barely follow the plotline!!

Another thing is that some collections just aren't put together well. I have two of the "Looney Tunes" sets to watch the cartoons that I remember growing up but you have to sort through a lot of crap cartoons to get the ones you really want to see.

One more point I'd like to throw out for discussion. Do you prefer to pull out a specific episode to watch on your dvd sets or would you just watch that specific random episode if that show is currently in broadcast? I find that with watching dvds I miss the spontaneity of the episode being broadcast. The anticipation during the opening credits of "I wonder what this episode is going to be about?". I find the dvds most useful for watching shows not currently on that you haven't see in years.
