The station, branded TV8.2, will be offered as a free, over-the-air signal on digital channel 8.2, as well as on Time Warner digital channel 126. The channel will also be available on other digital cable systems in the near future, including Charter Communications digital cable channel 175 on Jan. 3 in North Wilkesboro.
TV8.2 will be affiliated with a new network from Tribune Broadcasting called Antenna TV. The network will offer a combination of movies and classic television shows, including Three's Company, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Benny Hill, Maude, The Nanny and Married with Children.
Classic television series will air overnight, including Dennis the Menace, The Donna Reed Show and The Three Stooges.Many Piedmont television viewers will recognize the TV8.2 logo, as it is a modified version of the popular channel 8 logo from the 1970s and 1980s when FOX8 was branded as TV8.
"It will be a fun and nostalgic family network," Adams said. "In the near future, WGHP will also provide local news on TV8.2 in addition to other local programming."
The Jan. 1 launch will begin with a Three Stooges New Year's Marathon, and Jan. 2 will feature a Benny Hill Marathon.
