That was pretty cool, thanks!  Some of those models were quite attractive, and this is the year my grandmother was born.  Very good color for the day.

The earliest full color feature I've seen is Douglas Fairbanks in THE BLACK PIRATE, and that dates from 1926.  Of course, tinting and toning techniques date back before 1922.

That 1922 color footage was fascinating (and really more impressive than I would have thought) ... and I agree on some of the models. Seeing things in color must have been a real revelation back then.

Here's the GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY from 1903.  While not the first film that tells a story as opposed to simply filming a skit or showing an event, it's one of the first.  Also has a few scenes that show early uses of tinting an toning with color.
