In 1989, Siskel and Ebert devoted an entire show to the debate of B&W vs. color.  It's a fascinating discussion in which both critics give great arguments in favor of B&W.  They don't oppose color, but they try to illustrate all the many strengths of B&W film.  I hope this gives some more insight into the subject here.  Enjoy.
