Gertrude "Babe" Howard identified Shemp's small stroke as ocurring in February 1952.
The info at the above link is wrong... posted by a past forum member who was banned for repeatedly spinning fanciful tales, citing a never-written book and other fictional links as his source(s). (And posting the same bs at wikipedia... cross-referencing his own posts here as citations.)
The correct info...
- BOOTY AND THE BEAST was not in production when Curly died on Jan. 18; its script is dated April 1952; the new footage was filmed in May 1952
- When Curly died, filming had wrapped on HE COOKED HIS GOOSE (1/7/52 - 1/9/52), and UP IN DAISY'S PENTHOUSE went into production (1/21/52 - 1/23/52) after the memorial service. Neither Columbia or the shorts dept. suspended production in recognition of Curly's death; Moe, Shemp and Larry were not given time off.
- Home of Peace Memorial Park is in east Los Angeles, not San Gabriel.
- The "phone call" story is a work of fiction.
