Since we had so much fun with the winter solstice, I thought we'd party with the equinox.
e⋅qui⋅nox
[ee-kwuh-noks, ek-wuh-]
–noun
The time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth and occurring about March 21 (vernal equinox) and September 22 (autumnal equinox).
Of course, vernal simply means "of, pertaining to, or occurring in spring".
The vernal equinox will occur on March 20 this year.
Here's a comedy radio commercial celebrating the vernal equinox.
