Cool clips. Jeez, almost anything was made into a cartoon in the 80s (i.e. Pacman). I definitely remember watching 'He-Man' when I was little, although they were most likely re-runs. My two favorites, though, were 'The Smurfs' and 'Pee Wee's Playhouse.'

Noticed an interesting connection with the 'Rock N' Wrestling' clip: It's written by Jeffrey Scott, Joan Maurer's son.

Norman Maurer was a story editor for LAFF-A-LYMPICS, and Joan, Michael and Jeffrey received story credits on some of the episodes.

No, but seriously, that's cool, I really had no idea there was a Stooge connection with Rock 'n Wrestling. I was about to post a clip from that show as well, but Jim beat me to it! Nice finds, by the way.

Whenever I talk to late teen and early twenty somethings, they say they remember the "old days" of MTV when they had shows like the early episodes of THE REAL WORLD. My comeback is I remember when they showed videos! Well, being barely born in 1978, I don't remember the first few years of MTV, but I stumbled upon THIS gem from 1982. It's some white afro dude interviewing....Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull!!! Today, Tull and MTV are about as far apart as you can get, but back then, it appears MTV was shooting to be a serious music station. I don't expect anybody to watch all nine minutes of this, but watch the first few minutes just to see what early MTV was striving for. Of course, if you are a Tull fan, all five parts of this interview can be found on youtube. Cribs this ain't.

Got to throw in a poodle hair metal video. Ratt's "Round and Round," which is probably my favorite song of the genre. For you fans of old TV, you should recognize the man at the head of the dinner table. His career was almost as big as Ratt's!

Some of this footage is from the 90's (definitely the last one with a Forrest Gump reference), but this show started in 1987 and is the best comedy of the decade. Married....With Children. I believe the hot looking blonde in the first scene is Traci Lords, she had an interesting teen life in the 80's. The third scene is beyond hysterical.

I watched Married...With Children through its entire run and I'm not quite sure if it's held up well over time. One thing's for sure the show did run too long.

I seem to remember Drjoe bringing up Fraggle Rock out of the blue one day when he was razzing Slipp for saying he liked Schoolhouse Rock (which was mostly produced and aired through the 70's, but continued airing throughout the 80's) and I think Slipp said he hated Fraggle Rock. There's tons of Schoolhouse Rock on youtube if you are interested. I wouldn't admit it back then with that sap around, but I liked Schoolhouse Rock as a kid too, and it's sorta nostalgic now. It wasn't your average cartoon show, but rather a series of likeable, if not exactly cool songs. Each one taught a lesson that you could learn in middle elementary school to junior high school. Here for instance, if I can get the fuckin' thing to show up in my post, is one sung by the Tokens (famous for the 1961 song: The Lion Sleeps Tonight) called: Victim of Gravity:

A matter of taste. MWC is funny, but the only time I've watched it since it left the air, is an occasional stop while channel surfing. My choice for best comedy of the '80s is CHEERS, one of the few series from that decade I continue to enjoy in repeats and on DVD. Two choice episodes, one each from the "Diane" and "Rebecca" periods...

Love the Julian song. He had some talent for sure, but it was damn near impossible for him to have a long term career on his own because of the novelty behind his looks and voice. This past December, my grandmother died, and I was in a Burger King in Connecticut (unusual, as I usually avoid fast food places), while "Too Late For Goodbyes" was playing, appropriate for the time.

It was driving me nuts because I couldn't figure out who it was, yet the first thought that came to my mind was, "Sounds like it should be a Beatles solo tune, even though it's not."

Oh, and speaking of Beatles solo tunes, this video was my first introduction to just about anything Beatle related, believe it or not. Saw this on MTV constantly when it was in rotation.
